The 1989 Walt Disney animated classic "The Little Mermaid" is the story of a young mermaid named Ariel who trades her voice for a chance at love with a human prince. Hair
Ariel has long, bright red hair. If your hair is not naturally bright red and long, the sexiest way to fake it is with a temporary or permanent dye job. Dyes of various reddish shades can be found at party stores, costume stores and drugstores. If your hair is short, or you simply aren't willing to take the dye leap, wear a bright red wig instead. Though Ariel's hair is unadorned in the film, the sexiness of your costume might be enhanced with a trace of fake seaweed or a seashell barrette.

The cartoon Ariel swims around the sea wearing nothing but a light purple seashell bra on her top half. Mimic this look by sewing or gluing large purple (natural or painted, real or fabric) seashells to the cups of a purple bra. Alternatively, find a purple bra with a seashell-like lacy trim. If the event where you will be wearing this costume frowns on actual lingerie, fake it with a low-cut, corset-style midriff top with a seashell-like lace neckline or a couple of seashells sewn over the breasts.

Though Ariel is fresh-faced in the film, enhance your undersea look and sexiness with a colorful makeup palate. Apply foundation and a pale pink blush, then shadow your eyes with a combination of blue and green liner and shadow, with a touch of lavender and glittering silver for that wet look.
