Spongebob Activities For Kids

SpongeBob Squarepants is the little yellow sponge that lives in Bikini Bottom with his friends Patrick, Squidward and Mr. Krabs. Have some SpongeBob-themed crafts and activities ready for a SpongeBob-themed party or event or just a group of kids who love SpongeBob.

Sponge Art

Purchase plain yellow sponges and washable craft paints. Kids can dip the sponges into the paints or paint an entire sponge and press it on paper to create their own SpongeBob. Different colors of paint can be used for SpongeBob's facial features and clothing. Or, glue google eyes on the picture and cut clothing out of colored construction paper. Once the paintings are dry, kids can take them home. Alternately, glue eyes and paper to the sponge itself and skip the paint to make your own SpongeBob.

Ocean Bottle

Kids can create their own Bikini Bottom in a jar. A clean baby food jar or empty plastic water bottle can be used for this craft. The bottle can be filled with water, a few drops of blue food coloring and glitter. Purchase some small SpongeBob figures or plastic fish at a toy or party store and put those into the bottle as well. If you don't want to worry about the bottle spilling, use a hot glue gun to seal the lid onto the jar or bottle.

SpongeBob Trivia

Make up some SpongeBob trivia questions or download them from the Internet. Ask kids simple questions such as, "What is the name of SpongeBob's pet snail?" and "What kind of fish is Mr. Krabs's daughter, Pearl?" For each correct answer, kids can receive some gummy SpongeBob candy or a Spongebob coloring book or party favor.

Jellyfish Balloon Game

Tape long streamers to blue, pink and purple balloons that are blown up with helium. Kids can play a game of keep-away to music. Put on some SpongeBob music and let kids bop the balloons around the room. When the music stops, whoever is touching a balloon is out of the game, for these are the players who have been "stung" by a jellyfish. Make the number of balloon jellyfish proportional to how many kids are playing so everyone won't be out at the same time.
