Matching Hawaiian Wedding Clothes

You may fear the day you and your spouse walk out with the exact same colored shirt and jeans--but matching does not always have to mean colors. For your Hawaiian wedding, try these unique ideas to coordinate your styles.

Wedding Party Coordination

For the bridal party, outfit the men in white, linen shirts with rolled up sleeves and loose khaki pants. Give your bridesmaids beautiful, white linen dresses with brown sandals and a small, tropical flower for their hair. As the bride, have your white dress go with the Hawaiian style by selecting a flowing gown without added colors. Accessorize with a kukui nut anklet and bracelet. The groom will fit in perfectly with his groomsmen with a pressed white shirt, dark tan pants and a kukui nut necklace.

Give the entire wedding party calla lilies as bouquets and boutonnieres. Select a single rich orange or pink lily for the men and a half dozen for the bouquets, tied together with a white silk ribbon. As for the groom, give him two calla lilies and the brides bouquet should include at least a few dozen calla lilies, wrapped tightly with ribbon.

Bride and Groom

If you want your wedding attire to both look very Hawaiian and also complement one another, go nontraditional. Find a brightly colored wedding dress with a floral print to serve as your wedding gown. For the groom, get a classic Hawaiian shirt with the same floral motif along with a pair of tan or black pants. Dress up your hair and your groom's boutonniere with a bird of paradise.

If you would rather stray away from floral prints, stick with a solid tropical color, like pink. Find a flowing, light pink dress along with a pale pink button down shirt and tan pants for the groom. Include a bouquet and boutonniere with lots of green leaves and flowers to compliment the pink fabric.

Go Luau

For a fun take on a traditional wedding, dress everyone up in luau attire. Give the girls grass skirts and floral tops while the boys will have vests of banana leaves to wear over their shirts. Make sure everyone is decked out with a lei. Have the girls wear flower leis and outfit the boys with seashell leis to contrast against their green vests. As for the bride and groom, give the bride a beautiful floral wreath and have the groom's boutonniere filled with the same types of flowers. The new couple-to-be can match by wearing white linen--the bride in a soft, cotton dress and the groom in a flowing shirt and light colored pants. Shoes, of course, are optional.
