Word Ideas For Graduation Party Invitations

After the graduation ceremony, the party begins.

When someone you are close to graduates, whether it is from kindergarten, eighth grade, high school or college, it is an achievement, and you will want to celebrate. Hosting a graduation party for that special person shows how much you care and how proud you are of her accomplishment. Like the party itself, you want the invitation to express those feelings, too. Does this Spark an idea?

Basic

Sometimes simple, basic wording for an invitation is sufficient, without clever rhymes, sayings or poems. A basic invitation must include why you are having the party, who it is for and who you are, where and when the party will take place, if there are any special instructions or dress, and whether and reply to your invitation. Be sure you include the time; directions if need be; and, in some cases, the format, whether it is a casual open house where guests drift in and out, or more formal with a served dinner.

Verse

Include a verse, appropriate quote or poem, or saying as part of your invitation to a graduation party. For short verses or sayings, place it at the top of the inside page, before the basic party information. Longer poems and verses can be on the back of the invitation or on the front, with an appropriate border. Using a quote or poem that is a favorite of the graduate, or expresses the joy of the occasion can be especially meaningful.

Theme

After the hard work the graduate has put forth to receive a diploma, sometimes choosing a theme for your graduation party based on something the graduate enjoys is an extra reward. Sports, tropical beaches, casino, traveling and Mardi Gras are ideal alternative themes for a graduation party. Your invitations should express the theme; using clever rhymes and wording about the party theme will have your guests in the mood when it is time for the celebration. Incorporate the basic details in the theme-oriented wording. As an example for a football theme, use the term "stadium" and "the stands" for the location, the term "kick off time" is when the party begins and where, tell what the fans should wear, and any other details. Keep it lighthearted as you integrate the phrases and terms associated with the theme.
