Pirate Island Games

Having a pirate costume contest is one fun idea.

Pirate island games are fitting for pirate-themed parties or as activities with kids anytime. From treasure hunts to crafts, there are a number of pirate island activities to try. Learning some ideas for pirate island games can help make your next pirate party a big hit.

Treasure Hunting

A treasure hunt is a classic pirate activity that can provide some fun and mystery. Hide little treats, like candy or small toys, and have a final treasure, such as a bigger toy or a large bag of candy, as the final prize. As in a scavenger hunt, you can leave clues that lead to each little treat or draw a map to each treat and have kids try to figure it out. To make things fair, you can make different maps for each team that lead to different areas where you've left treats so that everyone gets to find a little something.

Pirate Costume Contest

A pirate costume contest is another idea that leads to a little creativity. Make sure that each person makes their own costume instead of buying one to make this a fun challenge. When guests arrive, you can set up categories to vote on, like most inventive, best overall and funniest costume. Winners can get small prizes like candy or little toys.

Pirate Tag

Pirate tag is an activity that offers some physical exercise as well. Have each player bring a pirate hat or provide them yourself and divide players into two teams. Stick red feathers in the hats of one team and blue feathers in the hats of the other. Teams then spread out and hide in the designated playing field. Should you be found and tagged by a player from the other team, you must give them your feather and go sit in that team's designated prisoner area, somewhere near the playing field. Once all the players from one team are captured, that round is won.

Pin The Parrot

Pinning the parrot onto a pirate is a game that is a pirate twist on the classic pin the tail on the donkey. Make your own playing board by tracing a large pirate shape out of a 5-inch-tall piece of construction paper. Draw your pirate as you like and pin it up onto the wall, then cut out the shape of a parrot and draw it as you like. Make a few parrots to use. Stick pieces of tape onto the backs of the parrots and put blindfolds on partygoers, then let them try to stick the parrot onto the pirate's shoulder. To add to the game, you can also make patches that guests can try to get onto the pirate's eye.
