Enhance a monkey-inspired birthday party with themed food items.

If you are hosting a monkey- or rain forest-themed birthday party for your child, create whimsical food items to go along with the charming decor. Transform basic food items into monkey shapes, which will appeal to children of all ages. Use jungles and tropical foods as inspiration when creating the ideal monkey-themed menu. Does this Spark an idea?

Monkey-Shaped Treats

Instantly elevate the appeal of party foods by forming them into whimsical shapes. Use a specialized monkey-shaped cutter to create monkey-inspired sugar cookies. Decorate the treats with brown and tan frosting and use small candy pieces as eyes. Make egg salad, tuna salad, peanut butter and jelly and ham and cheese sandwiches, cut off the crusts and transform them into monkey shapes. Serve the finger food sandwiches on a green jungle leaf-inspired tray. You can also cut the sandwiches into circular shapes, lay them on a plates and create monkey faces using ketchup and mustard or other edible treats such as raisins; form bread crusts into monkey ears.

Monkey-Inspired Cupcakes

Charming and decorative monkey-inspired cupcakes can double as dessert and a table centerpiece. If you are serving a traditional birthday cake as well, kids can take the cupcakes home as party favors. Make a batch or two of chocolate cupcakes in baking cups to match the birthday party color scheme. Top the cupcakes with chocolate frosting and cut the top portions off of vanilla wafer cookies. Place the cookies on top of the cupcakes and accent them with a smiling mouth design and two nose holes using brown icing. Use vibrantly hued candy-coated chocolates, such as M&Ms, as the monkeys' eyes. Cut small vanilla cookies in half and place one on each side of the cupcakes as the monkeys' ears. Display the creative cupcakes on a tiered cake stand in the center of the party table.

Monkey Banana Pops

No party-goer will be able to resist sweet and refreshing monkey banana pops. The frozen pops make ideal desserts and snacks during summer birthday celebrations. Make the treats the day ahead to avoid last-minute food preparations. To create the pops, peel ripe bananas and cut them in half width-wise and allow them to harden on a parchment paper-lined tray in the freezer for a few hours.. Stick a wooden dowel into the bottom of the banana pieces and dip them into melted milk or dark chocolate. Sprinkle the chocolate with any toppings you desire, such as toasted coconut flakes, crushed nuts, candy sprinkles or cookie crumbles. Place the pops in an airtight container and store them in the freezer until it is time to serve.
