The Beach House Restaurant
The Beach House restaurant is known for it's superb views of the ocean. It has been chosen from 2002-2011 as Best Kauai Restaurant by Honolulu Magazine, according to the restaurant's website. It was also featured as "one of the most romantic restaurants in Hawaii" by the Travel Channel. Entree items range from $20 to $40 as of 2011 and include mint coriander marinated lamb rack, fire-roasted sashimi-grade ahi, wasabi crusted snapper and seafood and penne pasta. The Beach House Restaurant offers a wine list that won the 2009 and 2010 Award of Excellence by Wine Spectator Magazine. Reservations are recommended.
Red Salt
Red Salt is located on-site at the Koa Kea Hotel, offering pool and ocean views from large picture windows. It offers breakfast, lunch and dinner, and has a lounge bar. The breakfast buffet is offered from 6:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and features fresh fruit, fresh omelets and a bakery station. Lunch is poolside from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and dinner is served from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Guests of the resort can have in-room dining 24 hours a day. Entrees are priced from $25 to $75.
Plantation Gardens Restaurant and Bar
Located at the Kiahuna Plantation resort, the Plantation Gardens restaurant features outdoor dining surrounded by lit tiki torches. It uses organic vegetables grown on local farms and feature fish caught by local fishermen. Plantation Gardens begins serving dinner at 5:30 p.m. daily. Entrees range from $20 to $30 and include seafood lau lau, grilled fresh fish, and sugarcane skewered pork tenderloin, along with a full wine menu and bar. Reservations are recommended.
Tide Pools
Tide Pools, located at Grand Hyatt resort, received the 2009 Zagat Survey's Best Restaurant on Kauai award. You will dine in a tropical garden surrounded by waterfalls and a koi-filled lagoon in a hale pili, similar to a hut. Tide Pools offers an extensive wine selection and authentic Hawaiian cuisine that includes grilled Hawaiian ahi, Hawaiian opah and macadamia nut mahi mahi in the price range of $18 to $75. Reservations are recommended, and it begins serving at 5:30 p.m.
