Wii Microphone Games
The Wii console features games that allow you to get up and move around by using the motion-sensing Wii Remote to replicate your actions on screen. Beyond the Wii Remote, the Wii also features games that make use of a microphone accessory allowing your voice to become another way to control the action.
Animal Crossing: City Folk
In "Animal Crossing: City Folk," the microphone peripheral is not used to sing or command troops, but rather to communicate with fellow gamers. In the game, you play a resident of a city populated with walking, talking animals. You can invite up to three friends with the game to visit your city and play games or fish together. While friends are in your town, the microphone allows you to talk to each other as long as everyone has their own peripheral.
Disney Sing It Series
"Disney Sing It" and "Disney Sing It: Family Hits" are two karaoke games for the Nintendo Wii that use Disney music in their catalog. The games allow you to sing by yourself or in a duet with your friends. "Disney Sing It" is for gamers who enjoy the music of Disney stars such as Miley Cyrus and The Jonas Brothers, while "Family Hits" features songs from Disney's animated movies such as "The Lion King" and "Aladdin."
Karaoke Revolution
The "Karaoke Revolution" series on the Wii uses the microphone to monitor your voice while you sing the lyrics that appear on the screen. Rather than singing just for fun, the game rates your performance based on pitch and scores you accordingly. In the "Karaoke Revolution Presents American Idol" entry of the series, the judges from the television show will critique your performances.
Boogie Series
In "Boogie" and "Boogie Superstar" the microphone is used for half the game as a means to sing the songs included on the disc. Players can also opt to use the Wii Remote to perform a dance for each song. The game does not allow you to sing and dance at the same time so you will need to choose which talent you wish to perform for the game.
Rock Band Series
The "Rock Band" series on the Wii uses the microphone as one part of a four man band. Gamers can sing with the microphone, play the guitar, bass or the drums. Entries in the series such as "Green Day Rock Band" and "Beatles Rock Band" allow multiple microphones to be used to sing harmonies on the songs. You can also pair up the microphone with another instrument and sing along as you play the guitar or drums.
Guitar Hero World Tour
Similar to "Rock Band," the "Guitar Hero" series began using the microphone with the introduction of "Guitar Hero: World Tour." Players can sing along to the songs in the game while three other players take over the remaining guitar and drum parts. You can also download additional songs to the game for a larger variety of music.
