Bright colors are typically associated with luaus.
Luaus are known for being festive affairs, complete with bright colors, loud music and tropical flowers. Those same elements transfer onto the scrapbook page. When you hold a luau-themed party or travel to a tropical island on vacation, you may want to document your experience with pages in your scrapbook. Luau scrapbooking ideas include all the elements of an actual luau and brighten up an otherwise dull page.
Tiki Pages
Use tiki-style icons and decorations on your luau page. One example is a tiki-style bar, complete with bamboo walls and an open bar. Use the open part of the bar to display your favorite picture of the event. Decorate the page with tiki statue stickers. Use a bright blue background to mimic the look of the sky or use a light tan color, which looks similar to sand.
Water Theme
Look for water-themed background pages to use with your luau theme. You’ll find a wide range of styles, including realistic paper, with dolphins and other animals shown in the water. Set your favorite picture on top of the water paper and trace around the edges. Remove the excess paper to create a frame for your picture. Attach the photo to the back of the paper, with the image sticking through the front. Use archival tape to keep the picture safe. Use this on top of your scrapbooking page as-is or add some flowers or other decorations.
Flower Theme
Bright flowers are a popular part of luaus and you can use those elements in your scrapbook. Use a neutral-colored background that won’t detract from the pictures and flowers. Paste a few of your favorite photos in the book and add flowered stickers around the edges. Alternatively, use a single picture in the center of the page. Then, add three-dimensional flowers to the edges of the photo. You can even save a few photos from your party. Let the flowers dry for several weeks and then decorate the page and your photos with the dried flowers.
Other Decorations
Nearly any type of bright color or tropical decorations work with a luau theme. Palm trees and surfboards are two of the more popular options. Use palm tree stickers to create a frame around your images or use surfboard stickers in the same way. Add textured paper to mimic sand or plain brown paper as your background.
