Princeville Kauai Activities

Kauai's Princeville area offers a wide variety of activities for tourists.

If you're planning a trip to Kauai, Hawaii, consider a visit to the Princeville area. Located on the island's rugged north shore, Princeville began as a coffee plantation and has become a resort area featuring three beaches, golf courses, and shopping and dining establishments. Whether you prefer watersports, golfing, horseback riding or just relaxing on the beach, Princeville and the town of Hanalei provide a variety of activities.

Hiking the Kalalu Trail

If you like to hike, try the 11-mile Kalalu Trail on the Na Pali coast. The trail starts at Ke'e Beach, an 11-mile drive from Princeville, and features valleys, waterfalls, ruins and ocean views. The hike offers constant elevation changes, with climbs of 300 to 400 feet followed closely by similar drops. Terrain ranges from dense jungle to high ocean cliffs, according to the Day Hiker website. Relax on the white sands of Ke'e Beach after the strenuous hike.

Snorkeling at Ha'ena State Park

Snorkeling fans won't want to miss Ha'ena State Park. Ke'e Beach features a reef that runs around the bay, creating a calm area for snorkeling. According to the Hawaii Beach Safety website, Ke'e beach is the most popular snorkeling destination on Kauai's north shore and is home to a variety of tropical fish including "wrasses, butterflyfish, damselfish, goatfish, convictfish, and surgeonfish."

Prince Golf Course

Princeville's Prince Golf Course offers an 18-hole, par-72 course. Set 300 feet above the ocean, the course allows players to enjoy views from each green. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., the course features slopes, hills and rolling terrain. It was ranked "Hawaii's Numer One Golf Course" by Golf Digest, according to the Princeville at Hanalei website.
