Xmen Costume Ideas

Paint your body blue for a Mystique X-Men costume.

Mutate into a superhero with an X-Men costume. While you might need to go to a Halloween store or costume shop to buy some accessories for this role, you can create much of your own unique getup at home. Flip through a comic book or watch one of the X-Men movies for inspiration when creating your out-of-this-world costume. Does this Spark an idea?

Wolverine

Become Wolverine for a night using clothes in your closet. Start with a pair of denim jeans and wear a white sleeveless shirt. Dangle a pair of dog tags around your neck, too. If you're able, grow thick sideburns before it's time to dress up to create the character's signature look. If you're planning to dress as Wolverine when he's ready to battle, you'll need claws for your costume. Fashion your own out of cardboard and foil wrap or find a costume shop that sells Wolverine gloves with three attached (plastic) blades.

Mystique

Blue is the name of the game when it comes to creating a Mystique costume. Try to find a blue body suit or leotard to get the costume started. A tight blue shirt tucked into blue leggings will work, too. Go to a craft store or costume shop to find a blue paint that's safe to wear on your skin. Apply it from head to toe with a paintbrush or airbrush. Using a metallic paint, stencil or draw scales here and there around the costume and spray glitter all over, too. Complete the look with a red wig, or if you're daring, dye your own hair red.

Rogue

Become Rogue for a day, starting with a green and yellow leotard. Search local costume shops for this specific body suit. You can also fashion your own with a tight-fitting green leotard painted with yellow fabric paint along the front of the torso. Use any pair of old knee-high boots for the costume by painting them yellow. Buy a green head band and wear yellow gloves, or dye a pair of white gloves. Bleach the front strands of your hair or color it with white hair spray.

Gambit

Become Gambit from X-Men with a few alternations to clothing you might already have. To make shin armor, find a pair of baseball catcher's gear or create your own with cardboard spray painted black and tied on with elastic. Wear a tight pink or red shirt, but first draw on some chiseled abs. Go to a local thrift store to find a long trench coat. Use any kind of metal or wooden pole painted black for the bow staff. Finally, you'll need a tight head piece. Cut off the arm of a stretchy shirt, such as a hoodie, and cut out ear holes, a place for your face and a hole for your hair to come out.
