Prek Graduation Party Ideas

Celebrate your pre-K student's success.

While not as life-defining as later-in-life graduation ceremonies, pre-K graduation is a source of excitement for young graduates. Allow your new kindergartener the opportunity to take pride in her academic accomplishments by hosting a pre-K graduation party. Planning an event of this nature is a thoughtful way to commemorate the moment and encourage your student to continue to strive for academic success. Does this Spark an idea?

Graduate-Created Sticker Invitations

Your pre-K student may be too young to play an active role in writing out party invitations, but this does not mean she can't leave her stamp on the project. Type or write out invitations to the graduation party on a sheet of cardstock. Gather an assortment of stickers showing some of your child's favorite things, and allow the child to place the stickers around the invitation to decorate the card.

Student-Decorated Refreshments

Invite the young graduate into the kitchen to create student-decorated refreshments. Before your party, prepare an assortment of sugar cookies or cupcakes. Gather decorating supplies including frosting in an assortment of colors, candies and sprinkles. Give each graduate several cookies or cupcakes to decorate using the provided supplies. Offer each student a box or bag to take home the cookies or cakes that he does not eat so he can show his parents and siblings his tasty creations.

ABC, 123 Decorations

Your student has likely already started learning her alphabet and number basics, and will continue to improve her knowledge of these building blocks of writing and math as she continues on in kindergarten. Reflect these basic education elements by planning an "ABC, 123" decorating scheme. Create a garland featuring these letters and numbers in different colors. Look for tablecloths and plates and napkins containing these letters and numbers. Purchase confetti numbers or letters to lay across the table surfaces and finish off your decorating.

Mortarboard Party Caps

Get graduates decked out for the event with graduation mortarboard party caps. Purchase or create paper caps that look like graduation hats. Make standard black hats or hats in the color representative of the school that the young students matriculated from. Give party guests a hat upon arrival, and encourage them to wear them for the duration of the party to set themselves apart from other guests.

Animal Graduate Favors

Give your guests a token of their accomplishment by purchasing animal graduate favors. Buy each guest a rubber ducky wearing a graduation cap, or buy stuffed animals wearing fabric grad hats. Place these graduation-themed toys in a bag with some candy or other small tokens of congratulations.
