Traditional Christmas Decorating

Live trees are considered more traditional than store-bought plastic trees.

Christmas decorations come in many varieties. Many people choose to continue to use traditional Christmas decorations because they grew up with them or because the decorations help them better appreciate Christmas as it was celebrated by their elders. Other people use traditional Christmas decorations because they enjoy the look not achieved with modern Christmas decorations. Many traditional Christmas decorations can be made at home or found at garage and estate sales. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Set your Christmas tree up in the main gathering room of your house. If you have a large window in the room consider setting the tree up so it is seen through the window.

2. Lay your tree skirt out underneath your Christmas tree. The seam of the skirt should face the back of the tree.

3. String large colored or white Christmas lights on the tree. Lights should reach from the top of the tree to the bottom.

4. Place an angel or star tree topper on the top of your tree. If your tree topper lights up make sure you plug it into your Christmas lights.

5. Attach flower ornaments to your tree. You also can use bow ornaments on a traditional Christmas tree.

6. Drop tinsel on the tree in various places, making sure you have a small layer on the entire tree. Pick up any tinsel that may have fallen on the floor or tree skirt.

7. Hang garland around your house. Your fireplace and any kitchen pass-through bars are ideal for hanging garland.

8. Set a nativity set up on your fireplace hearth or a side table. Some people decorating their homes for a traditional Christmas will keep the baby Jesus out of the nativity scene until Christmas Eve night.

9. Hang a large wreath on your front door. Your wreath should have flower or bow ornaments attached.
