Spongebob Party Game Ideas

SpongeBob SquarePants has entertained fans since the late 1990s, via TV, film, video games and other merchandising appearances. Fans looking to showcase their SpongeBob love can hold theme parties celebrating all things SpongeBob. Party guests can engage in a number of games capturing the spirit of the sea sponge who lives in a pineapple under the sea, as well as his cohorts. Does this Spark an idea?

Bikini Bottom Bubbles

SpongeBob and best buddy Patrick Star love to blow bubbles in their Bikini Bottom habitat. For this party game, the host gives all participants a bottle of bubble solution. Players try mimicking SpongeBob's special technique, as evidenced in the Nickelodeon TV series' "Bubble Stand" episode. The host awards a small prize to the player who most closely matches SpongeBob's technique. As a variation, players compete to see who can blow the biggest or smallest bubble, blow the longest-lasting bubble or blow the most consecutive bubbles.

Find the Formula

Like copepod Sheldon Plankton, party guests try finding the secret formula to Eugene Krabs' Krabby Patty recipe in this game. As one team, players follow clues throughout the house that eventually lead them to a locked box containing the formula. Upon finding the box, players sing the "SpongeBob" theme song and the host gives them the key to unlock the box.

Krabby Patty Relay Race

With hamburger bun and spatula in hand, players race to get rid of all their "Krabby Patty" buns. Players divide into two teams, with the host distributing one pair of oven mitts and a spatula to each team, as well as bags of hamburger buns to all players. While wearing the mitts, players place a bun on the spatula, walk to their finish line, drop the bun into a bucket and return to the start line to retrieve another bun. Upon dumping all of her buns into the bucket, the player passes the mitts to the next player in line, who repeats the actions. The first team completing the relay wins.

Mr. Krabs Walk

Players assume their best Mr. Krabs position in this relay race. The party host shows players walk like Mr. Krabs--hands and feet planted on the floor, with arms stretched down behind feet, and head and torso facing up. Wearing gloves, players take turns doing the Krabs walk from the start line to the finish line 30 feet away, and then back to the start line to tag the next player in line. The team finishing the relay first wins.

SpongeBob Toss Relay

Teammates try collecting the most water from their sponges in "SpongeBob Toss Relay." Players divide into two teams, with the first player in each line soaking the sponge in a water container and tossing the sponge to the next player. Tossing continues until the sponge reaches the last player in line, who squeezes as much water as possible into a bucket before tossing the sponge to the person in front of him. Tossing continues until it reaches the front of the line, after which the cycle starts over. The host measures the buckets' contents at the end of five minutes, with the team collecting the most water winning.

Squidward's Octopus Tag

Octopus Squidward Tentacles, SpongeBob's neighbor and Krusty Krab co-worker, tries catching fish in this tag game. One player stands in the middle of the "ocean" as "Squidward" while all other players serve as "fish." Playing within an "ocean" play area, the "fish" try making it to the "ocean's" other side while avoiding "Squidward." If "Squidward" tags players, those players become "tentacles" and remain in place while trying to tag other "fish," who also become "tentacles" if tagged. The game ends once all "fish" become "tentacles."
