Outdoor Party Invitation Ideas

Invite guests to a pool party with an invitation written on a beach ball.

A creative homemade party invitation will give guests an idea of what to expect at your party and get them fired up for the event. Invitations for outdoor parties should incorporate elements of the outdoors. These can include items such as flower petals and pool toys. Does this Spark an idea?

Garden Tea Party

Create teapot-shaped invitations for a garden tea party by making a teapot stencil and tracing it onto pastel-colored card stock. Cut out the invitations and write the party details with a calligraphy pen. Write the invited guest's name on another small piece of card stock and staple it to the teapot with a string so it looks like the tag on a tea bag. Place the invitation in an envelope with some dried flower petals for an especially elegant touch.

Pool Party

Invite guests to a pool party with an invitation on something they can bring to play with at the party. Purchase small inflatable beach balls, blow them up enough to be able to see a full light-colored section, and write the party information on that section of the ball in permanent marker. Incorporate creative wording such as "Splish, splash, it's a birthday bash" for a birthday pool party. Deflate the beach ball entirely and mail it in an envelope. Take the invitations to the post office to make sure you place the required postage on the envelopes.

Cookout

Make a scrapbook-style cookout invitation that looks like an outdoor table setting. Glue a piece of red-and-white checkered or plaid paper to a simple white card. Write the party details on a white circle to look like a plate and glue it in the center of the card. Cut fork, spoon and knife shapes out of silver metallic paper and glue one of each to the area around the plate.

Beach Party

A beach or luau-themed party can have simple invitations in the shape of surfboards. For each invitation, cut a surfboard shape out of card stock and decorate it with markers to look like a real surfboard. Write something like "Surf's Up" or "Come Hang With Us" on the front of the surfboard. Turn the surfboard over and include all the party details on the back side.
