Tropical Vacations In August

Resorts on the Red Sea provide tropical relaxation.

August is in the heart of the hurricane season and makes the Caribbean an unpredictable vacation destination with a high likelihood of hurricanes, storms and increased periods of rain. You can avoid this by visiting the very southern Caribbean, such as Aruba or Curacao, where the chances of hurricanes are minimal. In addition, there are plenty of destinations around the world, where beautiful beaches, crystal clear waters, palm trees, tropical plants and quality resorts and hotels make for a great tropical vacation in August.

The Red Sea

The Red Sea is an inlet of the Indian Ocean which offers some of the best diving in the world, with more than 1,000 species of fish and 150 species of coral. Popular tourist resorts include El Gouna, Hurghada, Safaga, Marsa Alam, Sharm-El-Sheikh, Dahab, and Taba in Egypt; Aqaba in Jordan; and the first resort to be established on the Red Sea, Eilat in Israel, which has become known as the Red Sea Riviera. On average in August, there are 11 hours of sunlight per day, temperatures reach the mid-90s and there is no rain.

Cairns, Australia

Located on the east coast of Australia in the north of the Queensland territory, Cairns is the gateway resort to the Great Barrier Reef, which can be reached by an hour's boat ride. In addition to the reef, the Daintree Rainforest is also popular with tourists, who visit this World Heritage site to experience the wide variety of flora and fauna. Average temperatures in August reach the mid-80s, with 10 hours of sunlight daily and no rain.

Hawaii

Few places evoke tropical paradise as readily as the Hawaiian Islands. With average temperatures in August in the mid-80s, 11 hours of sunlight daily and short, tropical showers every two or three days, Hawaii can be enjoyed in what is the off-season for the islands. The island of Oahu is a good choice for the visitor making his first trip to Hawaii. Pristine beaches, clear waters, a wide variety of accommodations, dining and nightlife, as well as historic sites such as Pearl Harbor, means that there is something for everyone.

Aruba

Situated alongside Curacao and Bonaire, 15 miles north of the coast of Venezuela, the Dutch island of Aruba makes a good destination in August. With an average temperature in the 90s, and constant trade winds to cool the air, there are seven hours of sunlight daily and short bursts of rain once or twice a week. Most of the resorts are located along a 7-mile stretch of beach on the west coast, but hidden coves and secluded beaches can be found all around the small island.
