The Beach House
The Beach House Restaurant, on the South Shore of Kauai, is known not only for its romantic sunset views but also for its unique approach to Pacific Rim cuisine. Executive chef Todd Barett changes his menu constantly except for a few consistent dishes. Try the Chinese-style roast duck and the kaffir-lime sea scallops. Voted best Kauai restaurant in 2009 by "Honolulu Magazine," the Beach House is quite popular. Reservations are recommended. Arrive in early evening and you will be guaranteed a colorful view as the sun sets on the Pacific Ocean. Save room for the molten chocolate desire, a baked mocha tart with espresso crème anglaise and vanilla bean ice cream.

Makana Terrace Restaurant
On the island's North Shore, the Makana Terrace offers supreme Pacific Rim cuisine and a pristine, romantic view of Hanalei Bay and Makana Mountain. The restaurant is noted for its fresh dinner seafood entrees, such as steamed snapper and broiled freshwater eel, as well as Asian-inspired appetizers such as ahi sashimi and Thai spring rolls. Produce is fresh and locally grown.
The Makana Terrace is also known for its dinner seafood buffet, which includes a wide variety of fresh seafood, including poki, tuna and sashimi as well as crab and oysters. It includes a carving station for salmon and prime rib and a barbecue skewer area. Reservations are recommended to ensure a spot on the lanai.

Café Portofino
Café Portofino serves Northern Italian food and offers a tropical view of Kalapaki Bay. On the East Shore in Nawiliwili at the Kauai Marriott, this restaurant is renowned for its sweetbreads, veal, fresh seafood and specialty pastas, such as veal Osso Bucco and a twist on fettucini Alfredo.
The restaurant features an after-dinner cappuccino and espresso bar, as well as a hefty wine list. Although a nice view can be had inside, try to get a table on the outdoor deck. The restaurant features live music, including a harpist.
Café Portofino is available for large events and has a separate dining area for such. Reservations are recommended.
