Things To Do At A Graduation Party

Graduation, whether it be from the eighth grade, high school or college, is quite an achievement and a great reason to throw a party. Graduation parties can often turn out quite large because most graduates wish to have both their friends and extended family members attend. A good way to keep a graduation party flowing is to come up with fun activities to do at the party beforehand.

Memory List

Because graduation is a very big milestone, graduates want to make memories that will last a lifetime. Purchase or make a giant graduation scroll and hang it on the wall at the party. Make sure every guest at the party signs the scroll and writes down his or her favorite memory involving the graduate.

Music Mash Up

Pick songs from the year the graduate was born to create the ultimate old school music mash up. This will provide a great sound track for guests to dance to and serve as a walk down memory lane. You can also use the songs to play Name that Tune and give away prizes to the guests who can guess the most songs correctly. If the graduate is not into music from the year he or she was born, this can also be done by using the top 10 hits from every year the graduate was in school.

Board Games

Sometimes as graduation parties wind down, some of the family members start to leave, but the graduate might have some classmates who stay later. Provide board games to play that are suitable for a large group such as Apples to Apples, Taboo, Scattergories or Outburst.

Outdoor Sports and Games

If the graduation party is in your own yard or another setting with access to the outdoors, having some outdoor games gives party guests something to do between courses. This encourages interaction between classmates and relatives and fosters bonding among the graduates as well. Setting up a volleyball net is always a good suggestion. You can also try some smaller games such as bocce ball or horse shoes.

Who Knows the Graduate Best?

A large-scale trivia game is another way to unite party guests and have some great laughs. The parents and best friend of the graduate should compile a list of questions about the graduate's life. Using a microphone, one of these people should act as the trivia host and read the questions out loud as the guests write down their answers. Whichever guest gets the most right should win a prize.
