Tourist Attractions In Honolulu Hawaii

Honolulu is the capitol and the most populous city of Hawaii; the name also refers to the county in which the city is found, located on the Southwest of Oahu island. Visitors may not only explore the beauty of this tropical land, but also learn of its culture as well as the developmental history of the Polynesian islands at large.


The Dole Plantation


The Dole Plantation provides visitors a first-hand experience of pineapple farming and production. There are two available tours: The Pineapple Express is a 20-minute train tour through the North Shore scenery of the plantation. The Garden Tour is a walking tour through eight of Dole´s gardens, where visitors will view the cultivation of additional crops,, such as cacao and exotic fruits. Finally, guests can step into the Pineapple Garden Maze, a labyrinth of Hawaiian shrubbery that currently holds the Guinness record for being the largest maze in the world.

Iolani Palace


Built in 1882, Iolani Palace is the royal estate of the last Hawaiian monarchs, King Kalakaua and Queen Lili`uokalani. Previously the social and political center of the Hawaiian kingdom, the palace has been restored to pristine quality and acts today as a center to learn about and admire Hawaiian culture and heritage. A variety of tours options are available, including a docent guided tour, a pre-recorded audio tour and a self-guided tour. The Palace hosts expansive galleries of Hawaiian artifacts and artwork as well as impressive chambers and gardens. Guests may even reserve the barracks section of the estate for banquets or special events.

The Bishop Museum


The Bishop Museum is the largest museum in the state of Hawaii, housing millions of artifacts from ancient Hawaii as well as from all over the Polynesian Islands. Aside from an expansive collection of cultural artifacts, The Bishop´s collection of natural specimens is among the largest in the world. In addition to temporary featured exhibits, the museum has several permanent exhibits. Hawaiian Hall and Polynesian hall are two large, multi-floor galleries dedicated to the history, culture and religion of Hawaii and the rest of the Polynesian Islands, respectively. Another notable exhibit is the Richard T. Mamiya Science Adventure Center, a 16,500 sq. ft. interactive learning center concerning Hawaii´s unique natural environment.
