Word Ideas For Anniversary Invitations

Invite your loved ones to your anniversary celebration.

Celebrating an anniversary is a milestone for couples who have been married for a number of years. If you are hosting an anniversary celebration, you will need to create an invitation to notify your guests. An anniversary invitation should reflect the couple's relationship and personality. As such, couples can word their invitations using rhyme, humor or sentiment.

Rhyme

Couples can use rhyme in a variety of ways on their invitations. Use rhyme to create two lines to describe the couple or a short poem inviting guests to the celebration. For example, an invitation may say, "Joined together for the rest of their life, John and Sue celebrate 25 years as husband and wife." A short poem may say something like, "We have been together for 20 years/ With laughter, joy, fun and tears/ Join us as we celebrate our time together/ Fun promised no matter the weather!"

Humor

Invite guests to your anniversary celebration using humor. A tasteful knock-knock joke or tongue-in-cheek wedding joke may be appropriate for the couple who love a good laugh. Use a simile to add a bit of humor to your invitation as well. You may write, for example, "Marriage is like a fine wine because it only gets better with age." Try to avoid jokes that denigrate married life to ensure your humor is appropriate.

Sentimental

Sentimental invitations are also an appropriate option for couples. A sentimental invitation may say, "You've stood by our side during these past 25 years. Please join us as we look toward another 25 together." A sentimental invitation may also summarize your accomplishments together as husband and wife. For example, "Together, we've raised three children, established an unbreakable bond, and loved one another unconditionally. Celebrate our 25-year wedding anniversary with us."

Simple

Some couples may wish to forgo pleasantries on their anniversary invitation and would like to keep it simple. On your invitation, state that you will be celebrating your wedding anniversary, and the date, time and location. This may read as: "Join John and Sue as they celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary on May 5th at the Shadow Lanes Lodge at 5 p.m." Simply stated wedding anniversary invitations may be straightforward, but are ideal for couples who like to get straight to the point.
