Teenage Beach Theme Games

Bring the beach to your own backyard with some teen games.

With summer setting its sights on the near future, you and your friends may want to take full advantage of all that the season has to offer. Though the beach may be miles away, you can still bask in the sunshine and play some beach themed games that any beachcomber would envy. So gather up all of your friends and head to the backyard to play some fun teenage beach-themed games.

Spin the Message in a Bottle

Add a twist to the premise of the popular teen game, "Spin the Bottle" by playing this game. Get a glass bottle with a cork. Place inside of it small strips of papers that direct two people to do something. For instance, you can write "Kiss on the cheek," "Dance to a song," "Hug each other" and "Tell each other your favorite colors." The game begins just like the original "Spin the Bottle." Place the bottle in the middle of the circle and let one person spin it. Whomever the tip of the bottle points to has to uncork the bottle and pull out a slip of paper. Reading it, he finds out what the person who spun the bottle and he have to do. The two perform this act and then someone else gets a turn. The game ends whenever you run out of slips of paper.

Musical Beach Towels

Pretend you're lying on the beach in your own backyard by laying out as many towels as there are players, minus one. Place on each towel a pair of sunglasses and a sunhat. Gather up your friends and encircle the row of towels, with people on either side of them. The game begins when you turn some music on, and all of the players start to circle the line of towels. At a random moment, turn the music off. At that moment, all of the players have to quickly find a spot on one of the towels and put on the sunglasses and sun hat. The person who does not find a towel gets disqualified from the game, just like in musical chairs. After every round, take away one towel. The last person standing wins the game.

Hula Hoop Relay

Bring your teenage friends together with this silly game. Divide the group into two teams. If you have enough players and hula hoops, you can have more than just two teams. Line the teams up so that each player stands side by side. Give the first player in each team a hula hoop and tell everyone in each team to link hands. On the count of three, each team must attempt to get the hula hoop down the line of people without letting go of anyone's hands. If the chain gets disconnected, the team has to start over. This means pulling the hula hoop over your head and the person's head next to you. The game ends when the winning team completes this task first.
