Making your own ninja sword can be a fun project to do, especially if you plan on using it in conjunction with a ninja costume, so you can really get in character. This ninja sword is a prop sword that has the look of a ninja sword but will not do well in battle. Thus, it is best to use it only when you are pretending to be a ninja and not when fighting others that are the real thing.

Instructions
1. Cut your wooden dowels, if needed, so that they are both 4 feet long. Then lay them on the table parallel to each other, wiping off any sawdust with your rag. Wrap them tightly together with duct tape at both ends and at two points in the middle.
2. Take your poster board and mark out a 10-inch-by-3-foot rectangle. Cut it out with the scissors. Place the poster board on the table and lay the dowels on top of it lengthwise. Then fold the poster board around the dowels, wrapping them in it so they no longer show (except for the extra foot of dowel on one end). Tape the 3-foot edges of the poster board to one another using one long piece of tape.
3. Trim or fold your poster board "blade" into the shape you want for your sword. (Most ninja swords get slightly thinner the farther you get from the handle and then form an angled point at the tip.) If the poster board comes apart at all, secure it with the white school glue.
4. Cut two 12-inch-by-4-inch pieces of corrugated cardboard from your box and tape one to each side of the still-exposed portion of the dowels. This will be the sword's handle. Cut a 6-inch-by-6-inch piece of cardboard and make a 4.25-inch slit in the center. Push the handle through the hole, and slide the cardboard up the handle until you reach the blade. This is the sword's guard.
5. Cover the handle with plastic sheeting and spray-paint the blade silver or a dark gray. Once the paint dries, cover the blade and then spray-paint the handle black or brown. Wrap the handle tightly with dark colored rope or cord, securing each end with the hot glue gun.
