Monkey around with some monkey-themed party games.
Whether you need to prepare for a birthday party or a simple get-together for your children and their friends, using a monkey theme can help you come up with all kinds of interesting ideas. Remember to plan plenty of monkey-themed party games to keep the children entertained and occupied throughout the event. Does this Spark an idea?
Monkey Stomp
Allow your party guests to stomp around like monkeys by playing this game from the Kids Birthday Party Guide website. Begin by gathering the children in a large outdoor play area. Wrap balloons around every child's right ankle using yarn or ribbon. When you say "Go," all the players start stomping around the area, trying to pop their opponents' balloons. As soon as a player's balloon pops, he gets disqualified from the game and leaves the play area. The last player with his balloon intact around his ankle wins the game.
Mother Gorilla
To show the kids the protective nature of a mother gorilla, play this game. Begin by gathering everyone to a large play area. Pick one player out of the group to play the Mother Gorilla. Sit her in the middle of the room or yard. Have all the other players situate themselves on one side of the area. Then, place a small stuffed gorilla in between the Mother Gorilla and the other players. Instruct the Mother Gorilla to face away from the other players. Quietly point to one player on the sidelines to stealthily try and steal Mother Gorilla's cub. If the Mother Gorilla senses someone trying to steal her cub, she screams to the top of her lungs. If anyone has the cub when she screams, they trade places with the Mother and the game continues. Continue to put the cub back in the middle after anyone steals it.
Find the Monkey's Bananas
Have your party guests searching for a monkey's favorite treat with this game. Begin by hiding as many bananas as you can around the party space. Hand each of the players a basket and gather them around you. Tell them they have to find as many bananas as they can. When you say "Go," the players race to the party space to locate the bananas, placing them in their baskets as they search. After the players have found all the bananas, award the person with the most bananas. To make the game more interesting, hide some banana peels, as well. Give players half a point if they find the peels as opposed to a full point when they find uneaten bananas. In that case, the player with the most points wins the game.
