First birthdays are milestones and should be celebrated.
Whether you're planning a big birthday bash for a 1-year-old, or a more modest gathering, there many ways to celebrate with the birthday baby. Just remember to focus the details around what makes her happy. Plan the party around nap time, and keep the gathering to no longer than an hour, or two at the maximum. Check with parents to see if any of their children have food allergies if you're serving food at the party. Does this Spark an idea?
Birthday Bash
Celebrate your baby's first birthday by throwing a big birthday bash. There are many themes you can use for the celebration. Some theme ideas include a favorite cartoon character, a favorite nursery rhyme or his favorite animal. Purchase the cake, decorations, party favors and invitations based upon the theme you choose. Invite a few kids over, play some nursery rhymes, and let the kids have fun. Eat cake and ice cream, and take a lot of pictures. If it is in your budget, hire a clown or a face painter as entertainment for the party.
Picnic at the Park
If you're looking for something to do with a close group of friends, host a picnic at the park for your baby's first birthday. If the weather permits, send out invitations with the date, time and location for birthday picnic. Ask your friends to bring their own blankets, and you will supply the rest. Make finger sandwiches with ham and cheese, or turkey and cheese. Bring crackers, pasta and yogurt for the toddlers with no teeth. Cut up fresh fruits, vegetables and cheese. Don't forget to bring plenty of water and juice. Pack all of these items in a cooler. Instead of a cake, bring cupcakes for everyone. Allow the kids to crawl, run and play with each other. Bring a few books, balls and toys for the children to play with and take home as a party favor. When its time; sing happy birthday to the star of the day, and eat cupcakes.
Cake and Ice Cream
If you don't want to have a big celebration for your baby's first birthday you can keep it simple. Celebrate it at home with the grandparents and siblings with cake and ice cream. Decorate the guest of honor's high chair with balloons, a tray skirt and give her a birthday hat. Sing happy birthday to her. Eat cake and ice cream and allow her to open her presents.
Professional Pictures and Lunch
Schedule an appointment with a photographer to have your baby's pictures taken on her first birthday. Bring some of her favorite toys to use as props and a cupcake with a No. 1 candle on it. Have her pictures taken playing with her toys and with her birthday cupcake. Treat your birthday star to lunch or dinner at a fast-food restaurant with a play area.
