"Willy Wonka" Chocolate Crafts

Chocolate makes a material for a Willy Wonka-themed craft.

Author Roald Dahl introduced the world to the wacky Willy Wonka in his 1964 book, "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." Willy Wonka is a chocolate factory owner who puts five golden tickets in some of his candy wrappers. The children who find the wrappers are awarded a tour of Wonka's chocolate factory and a few surprises along the way. Use Willy Wonka-themed chocolate crafts at a "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" party, or just for fun.

Large Wrapped Candy Crafts

Create large lollipops and wrapped candies as seen in the Willy Wonka movies. Wrap Styrofoam discs in colored cellophane and twist the two ends to resemble wrapped candy. Use round Styrofoam balls to resemble chocolate bon bons. Paint the the balls brown, wrap them in cellophane and twist the ends. Stick a dowel stick into the Styrofoam to create a lollipop.

Willy Wonka Crafts

Create a Willy Wonka craft out of simple materials. Draw a picture of the Willy Wonka character on a piece of paper, color and cut it out. Glue the picture to a toilet paper roll. Add beads as buttons or googly eyes for embellishment. Tape or glue a piece of cardboard to the bottom of the roll to cover the opening. Wrap some chocolate candies in plastic or cellophane and put them into the toilet paper roll.

Another chocolate craft idea a Willy Wonka lollipop. Make a two-sided Willy Wonka face on a piece of paper and cut it out. Poke the stick of a lollipop into the mouth of the Willy Wonka face, with the face looking toward the candy end of the lollipop. When a child sucks on the lollipop, Willy Wonka's face will be staring back at him.

Edible Crafts

Create yummy, edible Willy Wonka-themed crafts to serve at a birthday party or just to enjoy while reading or watch "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." Mix butter, peanut butter, powdered sugar and crushed graham crackers together. Once mixed, spread and press the mixture into a square dish. Melt chocolate chips and butter to create a topping. Spread the topping over the mixture and let it cool to create a yummy chocolate treat. Serve the "Wonka Bars" on a yellow paper plates to represent the golden tickets or wrap them in yellow cellophane.

Other Chocolate Crafts

Create Willy Wonka-themed crafts to use as party decor. Build a simulated chocolate waterfall and river, similar to the one in the story of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," by hanging brown, satin fabric from a corner and allowing it to cascade down and pool on the floor beneath. Use another piece of brown satin fabric to resemble the river. Lay that piece on the floor and create a twisty river around the party venue. Another fun Willy Wonka-themed craft is to create a golden ticket wrapper to cover a store-bought chocolate candy bar. Remove the existing label from the candy bar to use as a template. Trace the label onto gold paper, use markers to write "Golden Ticket" on it and to add the Willy Wonka logo. Use this craft as a favor for a Willy Wonka-themed party or as a snack while watching the movie.
