Menu Ideas For A Spongebob Squarepants Birthday Party

An adventurous party may like to find out what a real squid(ward) tastes like.

A SpongeBob SquarePants party should be a colorful affair both literally and figuratively. The popular cartoon features bright oranges and yellows with a healthy sprinkling of reds and pinks. When tossing a SpongeBob SquarePants party, serve food that fits the theme. Not only does the concept demand it, but it will also touch upon the little sponge's beloved job of fry cook. Does this Spark an idea?

Sponge Cake

Start with the obvious: a sponge cake. Cut it into the shape of SpongeBob and decorate it in puckered yellow frosting to resemble Mr. SquarePants. If you are pressed for time and just not the cake decorator type, order one from a local grocery store or bakery that will work from a pattern and provide you with a regular cake decorated a la SpongeBob.

Pineapple Boat

SpongeBob lives inside a pineapple under the sea. Turn a pineapple into an upside down cake, finger food or the topping of a baked ham. For a SpongeBob SquarePants boat, cut the pineapple in half, slice out the fruit and use what's left over to make a pineapple "boat" filled with tuna salad, chicken salad or fruit salad.

Krabby Patties

Throwing a SpongeBob theme party without including The Krusty Krab's signature dish, the Krabby Patties, is like visiting Squidward's house without looking at his collection of self-portraits. It just won't do. The official manner of putting together Krabby Patties, according to the episode titled "Pickles," goes exactly like this: bun, patty ketchup, mustard, pickles, extra onions, lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, and bun.

Jellyfish Jam Sandwiches

Familiarity with the show affords you more opportunity for creative expression in your menu. Jellyfish Jam is a plot element in a few episodes so serve some jam finger sandwiches.

Sandy's Cheeky Texas Chili

Sandy Cheeks is SpongeBob's squirrel friend from Texas so you could get away with calling your favorite recipe for Texas chili (no beans) Sandy's Cheeky Texas Chili. Of course, those who eat chili the normal way won't mind much if you bring Texas chili into the new millennium by adding beans.

Patrick Starfish Pizza

SpongeBob and Squidward are drafted into delivering pizza in one episode. You could make your own pizza, but shape it into the starfish shape of SpongeBob's closest buddy, Patrick Star. A simple cheese pizza with the sauce on top will lend your pizza Patrick's pink complexion.

Bikini Bottom Delicacies

A SpongeBob SquarePants party menu idea could just focus on serving food from Bikini Bottom. If you have adventurous kids, introduce them to actual squid alongside crabmeat cakes, fish tacos, salmon patties and various sushi.
