Tropical Island Decoration Ideas For A Bridal Shower

Fruity drinks with little umbrellas are an important party of a tropical theme.

Bridal showers are a fun time to get together with girlfriends to celebrate an upcoming marriage. Plan the theme of your bridal shower in the tropical theme; this works especially well if the bride is planning a destination wedding or honeymoon in the tropics. You can purchase most of the decorations at your local party store.

Around the Room

Tiki torches are inexpensive, so place them up around the space. If you are outside, go ahead and stick them in the ground and light them. If the shower is inside, do not light them; just lean them against the walls for effect. Hang tulle against a wall and hang things from the tulle; necklaces, colorful birds, shells or tiki masks are a few things that fit with the tropical theme. Play tropical or beach songs in the background.

Table Setting

Lay a colorful table cloth on the table; it can have a pattern or simply be a bright solid color. Wrap the table in numerous grass skirts. Untie the skirts so it is one long piece and tape it to the table. Wrap leis around the food dishes on the table and place a few hula girl dolls around the table for a chuckle. Have a few fresh pineapples placed around the table.

Guests

Invite the guests to dress for the tropical theme. Announce the theme through your invitations and meet the guests at the door with a flower lei to wear during the shower. You can use real flowers to make your own leis, or purchase leis with artificial flowers for a very cheap price at party stores. You can also pass out large flowers for the guests to wear in their hair, just behind their ear.

Food and Drinks

Use the food as decoration as well as a way to further the theme. Pineapple chicken or kabobs are very tropical. Offer a fruit tray with pineapple, mango, strawberries and bananas. Shrimp or crab is also reminiscent of the tropics. Help your guests feel like they are on a tropical island vacation by offering drinks in glasses with little umbrellas; lemonade and smoothies for non-alcoholic drinks and pina colada for a punch of alcohol.
