Unique Halloween Costume Ideas For Plussized Women

Being plus-sized doesn't mean you have to skip the fun of dressing up at Halloween. It may be true that you won't wear something if you don't feel comfortable in it, but that doesn't mean you can't find a costume that suits you just fine. Whether you are going to a school event, or an adult costume party, a unique costume will get a lot of positive attention.

IPod

The iPod costume idea can never really go out of style. It appeals to kids and adults and is decent enough to wear anywhere. From school events to Halloween costume parties, dressing up as an iPod is sure to get some laughs. To create the costume, you need to find a large box that fits over you. A white, rectangular shaped box will best resemble an iPod. Cut out a hole for your head to go through. You will also need to cut out arm and leg holes. Use markers or paint to create the face of the IPod. Wear a black or white sweatsuit underneath the box.

Bunch of Grapes

A bunch of grapes is a unique costume idea. Blow up several purple balloons and tie them off at the end. Wear a purple sweatsuit. Have someone help you safety pin the purple balloons all over your sweatsuit. Put the balloons as close to each other as possible. This will take several balloons, so prepare ahead of time. Wear a sign around your neck that say's "Bunch of Grapes" to keep others from guessing.

Mrs. Potato Head

Mrs. Potato Head is a Hasbro toy created to be a fun mix-and-match toy for kids. She would make an interesting Halloween costume, especially if you are going to be around children. Wear a light brown sweatsuit. Create a self-made flap on your behind to mimic the door on Mrs. Potato Head. A rectangular piece of brown fabric, safety pinned to your pants works fine. Over emphasize your make-up. Give yourself big red lips, blue eye shadow and a pink nose. Carry a red purse, and wear bright yellow earrings. Wear green shoes and a sign that reads "Mrs. Potato Head."

Raggedy Ann and Andy

Dressing up as Raggedy Ann for Halloween can make you feel as cute as a button. Many places offer Raggedy Ann costumes in a variety of sizes. However, if you want to make your own, search for a solid blue dress. The sleeves should be puffed out at the shoulders, and the end of the dress should hit right above the knee. Wear a white apron over the top of the dress. Don't forget the red and white stripped stockings and black shoes. Paint large red circles on your cheeks and carry around an Andy doll.
