Red Centerpiece Ideas

Red Centerpiece Ideas

Homemade or store-bought, red centerpieces are popular for many different occasions. You can mix and match red flowers, candles and/or fruit with decorative elements to create centerpieces for proms, birthdays, weddings and many holidays celebrations including Valentine's Day, Christmas, Thanksgiving and Halloween.

Red Flower Centerpieces

The most common red centerpieces made with red flowers are red rose arrangements with different stem lengths and fillers. Round bouquets of red roses and baby's breath in silver vases or tall bouquets of red roses and fern fronds in glass tower vases create the same elegant look.

For a more unique red rose centerpiece, cover Styrofoam balls with red silk rosebuds and secure one to the top of a silver candlestick. Wrap a silky red ribbon around the top of each candlestick and tie it in a large, four-loop bow.

To make red flower centerpieces without red roses, consider red tulips, carnations, poppies, Gerbera daisies and/or orchids. You could cover a mini foam topiary tree top with red Gerbera daisies and wrap the trunk with white ribbon. Place the tree base in a black pot and cover the foam with clear red, white and yellow decorative stones. Place some red tulips evenly across a foam and decorative box container so that they stand in a perfect grid. Cover the foam with some craft moss and tie the front with a raffia bow.

Red Candle Centerpieces

Red centerpieces made with candles can add a traditional or modern feeling to a room. Fill a shallow and clear bowl with red, heart-shaped, decorative stones and water. Add some floating red candles shaped like hearts and or flowers. Place a bowl at each table and light the candles before the guests arrive. You could also loosely stuff some big red orchids into a clear and thin cylinder vase. Fill the vase with water and float a single red flower votive candle on top to keep the orchids in the water.

If you want an impressive and budget-friendly red centerpiece idea using candles, start searching thrift stores for plain, clear, glass, cylinder candle holders in assorted sizes. Place large, free-standing, red candles in each holder and cluster a group of seven to 15 lit candles together in the middle of each table. You can also fill some clear, short, square glasses or vases two-thirds full with layers of gold, white and red craft sand. Top the last white sand layer with a small, red votive candle and line up several of the glasses/vases down the middle of the table.

Red Fruit Centerpieces

For a red centerpiece idea that uses fruit, focus on creations that use red apples, cranberries, cherries, sliced mango, strawberries and/or red grapes. Fill a clear rectangle vase two-thirds full with sliced mango and a little water. Add a tall red bird of paradise flower and a few, small, white and green orchids for a tropical look. You could also fill a clear bowl with small, red apples and have strawberry-centered pineapple flowers sticking up from skewers set in the apples.
