Spongebob Centerpiece Ideas

SpongeBob SquarePants is the lively underwater animated character children tune in to see on Nickelodeon. He has a knack for getting himself and his friends (Patrick, Squidward, Sandy and Gary) into some crazy shenanigans that have kept television and film audiences laughing since 1999. If throwing a SpongeBob-themed party, consider many creative possibilities for table centerpieces. Use pictures for reference. Does this Spark an idea?

Pineapple House

Cut a pineapple's bottom flat. Make circular windows and a door from blue construction paper. Add details with marker, and glue in place. Cut a blue, bendy straw, and stick it into the upper side of the house. Cover circular cardboard with sand. Place the house on top, surrounded by crumbled colorful, silicone bracelets. Paint small pebbles lime green for the walkway. Place a small cardboard sign that reads "Welcome to Bikini Bottom" in the sand. Include character figurines purchased from a party supply or department store.

SpongeBob and Gary

Paint SpongeBob's face on a large yellow sponge. Decorate another sponge cut into one-third its size with glue and construction paper to create his red tie, white shirt, brown pants and black belt. Glue the sponges together. Attach small rolled up white construction paper to each side for sleeves. Make the pant legs from rolled up brown construction paper, and glue them on as if he is seated. For the arms and legs, glue yellow pipe cleaners inside the tubes. Use construction paper and markers to make socks and yellow and black foam paper for hands and shoes. Paint Gary's shell on a large rock. Finish him with modeling clay, and sit SpongeBob on top. Tie balloons around either character.

Fish Bowl

Fill the bottom of a large circular fish bowl with sand. Add in colorful coral. Fill the bowl with water, and place small, live fish inside. Tie balloons around the rim of the bowl. Place character figurines purchased from a department or party supply store at the sandy bottom. Surround the outside of the bowl with starfish and seashells.

Coral Tree

Cover square cardboard with sand. Place large colorful coral on top. If you cannot find coral in stores, make your own out of modeling clay or other material and sprinkle glitter on top. Purchase small character figurines at a store, and hang them from the coral with fishing wire. You can also paint your own characters on cardboard (on both sides) to hang up. Surround the coral with sea shells, starfish and other beach items. Place a bunch of small bubble-making bottles on the sand for party guests.

Cake Centerpiece

Shape a layered cake into the form of SpongeBob's house. Cover with fondant and use edible paint to create a pineapple. Make windows and a door out of fondant. Create the side tubing out of painted modeling chocolate. Place the greenery of a pineapple on top of the cake. Cover a base with brown sugar, and place the cake on top. Make SpongeBob and other characters out of modeling chocolate and edible paint. This centerpiece can be enjoyed by everyone at the table once the party is almost over.
