"SpongeBob SquarePants: The Battle for Bikini Bottom" follows the titular star of the television series as he attempts to stop the evil Plankton's nefarious robots from invading his submerged hometown. In the game players may use SpongeBob and his friends Patrick and Sandy to adventure through the town, gathering items and fighting off Plankton's robot minions. The game also offers useful cheat codes and exploits that make the fight easier.

To instantly gain 1,000 shiny objects, the game's equivalent of gold, press the "Start" button to pause the game, hold down the "L1," "L2," "R1" and "R2" buttons and then quickly press "Square," "Circle" twice, "Square" twice, "Circle" twice and "Square." To increase the value of shiny objects, pause the game and hold down the left and right triggers as before and enter "Square," "Circle," "Square," "Circle" twice, "Square," "Circle" three times, "Square" four times, "Circle" twice and "Square." To make pedestrians and friends provide shiny objects, pause, hold the triggers and press "Square" five times, "Circle," "Square," "Circle," "Square," "Circle" twice and "Square." To gain shiny objects by hitting pedestrians, pause, hold triggers and press "Square" five times, "Circle," "Square," "Circle" twice," "Square," "Circle," and "Square." Codes must be entered very quickly. A sound will indicate whether the code was entered correctly or not.
Health Codes
To instantly restore health at anytime, pause the game, hold down the four trigger buttons and very quickly press "Circle" four times, "Square," "Circle," "Square," "Circle" and "Square" four times. To gain additional health, stand near a pedestrian, pause the game, hold the triggers and enter "Square" five times, "Circle," "Square," "Circle" three times and "Square" twice. Codes must be entered very quickly. If the codes are entered correctly a sound plays.
SpongeBob SquareNoPants
To make SpongeBob go without pants, pause the game, hold down the "L1," "L2," "R1" and "R2" buttons and quickly enter "Circle" four times, "Square," "Circle" twice, "Square," "Circle," "Square" twice and "Circle." A sound plays when the code is accepted.
Greater Difficulty
To make the game more difficult, press "Start" to pause. Then hold down the four trigger buttons and quickly press "Circle" three times, "Square" twice, "Circle" four times, "Square," "Circle" three times, "Square" and "Circle" twice. There is a sound if the code is correctly entered.
Golden Spatula Cheats
To instantly gain 10 golden spatulas, pause the game, hold down the two right and two left trigger buttons and quickly enter "Circle," "Square" twice, "Circle" twice, "Square" twice and "Circle." A sound plays if the code is correct. An unlimited amount of golden spatulas can also be gained in Goo Lagoon. Locate Bubble Buddy and then the spatula around the corner. Jump onto the cloth, touch the "Thunder Tiki" and then run, jump off and land in the water. Repeat this to gain more spatulas with each run.
