Scrapbook Boat Ocean Ideas

Scrapbook Boat Ocean Ideas

Scrapbooking is a hobby that many people enjoy in their leisure time. Vacations at the beach and on boats are a favorite thing to scrapbook, and there are many different ways to scrapbook your photos.

Colors and Shapes

Colors are very important when scrapbooking a beach page. Primary colors in red, blue and yellow will not convey a "beachy" feel. Pastels give the right soft feel as long as you are careful not to make it look like an Easter or spring page. The three main colors to use are light or pastel blue for the ocean and sky, bright yellow for the sun, and a tan color to mimic the sand. Using these colors in background paper, letters or shapes will really bring your beach theme to life.

Die-cuts can help to convey a boat or beach feeling. Whether you need a cruise ship, a sailboat or a canoe, there are numerous die-cuts to choose from, such as boats, shells and beach umbrellas. They can usually be purchased from a scrapbooking store or online.

Titles and Textures

Popular or well-known phrases can help to move your page toward the correct feeling. "Beach Bum" or "Soaking up the Sun" could apply to your beach page, while "Making Waves" or "Making a Splash" would relate to your boat pictures. Using blue paper cut in a wave shape would really add movement, giving it visual interest.

Using different textures on a page can also give it visual interest. Sandpaper for sand, soft cotton balls for clouds and thin strips of blue tissue paper glued down for waves make the page much more interesting. When using a rough texture like sandpaper, however, be sure to also use page protectors so that it does not scratch anything on the facing page.

Accessories

Accessories can also tell the story of your beach or boat trip. You can buy pre-made kits with beach or boat papers and stickers, but putting your own together will give it that unique, personal touch. Buy a scrapbook in the shape of a sandcastle, use beach-themed stencils and stickers, and you've got a book ready to go. Add brads or embellishments in the shapes of seashells, sandy footprints or boats, and you are set.

Don't forget to leave room on your page for journaling. Document where you went, whom you went with and what you did. Write down funny things that were said and how you felt catching some sun on the beach or boat.
