Universal Studios Florida takes visitors behind the scenes of a working film studio. The park features shows and movie-themed thrill rides, such as the Revenge of the Mummy. Evenings in October become Halloween Horror Nights with terrifying haunted houses, and ghouls and zombies roam throughout the park. The adjoining park, Islands of Adventure, features the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Guests staying in Universal's on-site hotels enjoy special park access, subject to change. Early admission to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter enables hotel guests to enter Islands of Adventure one hour before the park opens for general admission. The hotel room key serves as an express pass; hotel guests can skip the long lines, a savings of up to 85 dollars, as of 2011. Free water taxis transport guests from the hotels to the park entrances and City Walk, Universal Studios entertainment area, with a 20-screen theater and restaurants, such as Emeril's and Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville. All on-site hotels have won the AAA Four Diamond Award.
Loews Portofino Bay Hotel
Loews Portofino Bay Hotel recreates a town on the Italian Riviera. The theme is carried throughout the grounds, pool and spa area. The 450-square-foot guest rooms are richly decorated in authentic Italian furnishings. The hotel offers a family oriented, Roman-themed pool featuring an aqueduct slide, pool-side activities for kids and a "dive-in" movie. The villa pool features luxurious cushioned lounge chairs and Jacuzzis. The strolling area includes gardens, gift shops and eateries all in the Italian theme.
Hard Rock Hotel
Hard Rock Hotel offers excellent accommodations in a fun and casual setting. Rock memorabilia adorns the lobby. The guest rooms feature rock-'n'-roll artwork, flat-panel TVs, CD players and MP3 docking stations. The pool is surrounded by a sandy beach where kids can build sand castles and adults can soak up the sun in lounge chairs. Guests diving in the pool won't miss a note, as an underwater sound system keeps the music flowing. Hard Rock Hotel has a variety of eateries from seafood and steaks to ice cream and Starbucks. The Velvet Bar cocktail lounge, popular with locals, serves drinks in a stylish setting. The Hard Rock Cafe is accessible by water taxi and is located in City Walk.
Loews Royal Pacific Resort
Loews Royal Pacific Resort captures the serenity of a tropical island. The guest rooms are decorated with bright island fabrics and restful bamboo accents. The lagoon-style pool offers a sandy beach, comfortable lounge chairs, a play area for children and dive-in movies. Private cabanas are available for rent; they are equipped with a ceiling fan, TV and a refrigerator stocked with water, soft drinks and fruit. Royal Pacific Resort offers a variety of dining options, including a weekly luau with Polynesian music and dancing accompanied by a menu of roast-suckling pig, fresh seasonal fish, tropical fruits and desserts.
