Disney World
has several excellent hotels on property.
Disney World is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the planet, home to four amusement parks, two water parks, a sports complex and a large dining and shopping area. There are several resort hotels on property, offering a variety of benefits, such as free transportation, early admission into the parks --- or late stays on some days --- and the chance to sign up for Disney's dining plan. Disney hotels range from moderate to deluxe.
Animal Kingdom Lodge
The Animal Kingdom Lodge is a deluxe resort and, like all Disney deluxe resorts, has a "theme." This facility is modeled after an African lodge. One distinctive feature of this property is that it is stocked with a variety of exotic animals --- more than 30 species --- and nearly all rooms have a view looking out onto the animals grazing, sleeping and interacting. The lobby of the resort has authentic African art and artifacts and a massive atrium. The hotel features a pool with slide, a 24-hour playground, a 24-hour game room and a children's activity center for kids ages 3 to12 that offers babysitting service. The hotel has three on-site restaurants: Boma, which serves African food buffet style, Jiko, a high-end authentic African cuisine restaurant, and the more casual Mara. It is one of a few Disney deluxe resorts not on the monorail.

The Polynesian Resort --- or Poly, as it is affectionately called --- is Disney World's oldest on-site hotel and has a South Pacific theme. It is a large hotel, with 847 rooms, and guests will enjoy the 75 different indigenous species growing in the lush and tropical lobby and common areas. The hotel features the Nanea Volcano Pool, with a 40-foot high "volcano," a waterfall and a waterslide, as well as boating, fishing and water skiing opportunities on Bay Lake. Every evening, the Electrical Water Pageant is held on the nearby Seven Seas Lagoon. The hotel has a luau-type feast in the evenings, with family-style service of authentic cuisine while guests are treated to native dancing with audience participation. The monorail runs directly by this resort, providing access to the Magic Kingdom and the Transportation and Ticket Center. Guests can walk to the Magic Kingdom from the Polynesian.

This deluxe resort is perhaps best known for its A-frame design, its views of the Magic Kingdom next door thand the that act the monorail runs directly through it. The hotel's proximity to the Magic Kingdom means guests can walk to that park in minutes. One of the hotel's features is a 90-foot ceramic mural in the property's large atrium. The hotel houses the California Grill, a restaurant on its top floor that is considered one of the best in the world. The hotel is home to one of two convention centers at Disney World, with 115,000 square feet of meeting space available.
