Traditional Halloween Party Games

Halloween pumpkin

Halloween is a holiday loved by millions of people. This is the one time of the year that little kids get to dress up and beg for candy. Another way to celebrate this spooky time of the year is to have a party. One way of ensuring your party is a success is to play some traditional Halloween party games. To make this Halloween season even more enjoyable for your children, get them involved in the planning of the party. Does this Spark an idea?

Apple Bobbing

One traditional game that is popular with the young and old is to bob for apples. Fill a bucket or tub with water and add any kind of apples you want. Have people stick their faces into the water and try to grab an apple with their teeth. To make this game easier for small children, first peel the apples before putting them into a shallow bucket or pail of water. Bobbing for apples is a messy and wet game, so make sure to put something down on your floors to keep them dry or play outside, and provide towels for participants.

Sticky Face

Sticky face is a messy but amusing game that young children will especially enjoy playing. To play this game, tie long strings around doughnuts and hang them from the ceiling. The players then stand or sit under a doughnut and try to see who can eat their doughnut faster, without using their hands. This game is very messy, so if being sticky is not your thing, you had better sit this one out.

Mummy Wrap

Most children get in trouble for playing with toilet paper, but not in the traditional Halloween game called mummy wrap. In order to play mummy wrap, you will need many rolls of toilet paper. Group everyone in teams of two. The idea of this game is for everyone to wrap his or her teammate loosely from head to toe in toilet paper the fastest. Leave faces unwrapped for easier breathing.

Pumpkin Carving

Carving scary faces on pumpkins is a tradition that started many years ago. One Halloween game to play is pumpkin carving. This game is mainly for teens and adults because sharp knives are used. Give each player a pumpkin, knife and pen or pencil. The players then see who can carve the best face or design on the pumpkin.

Scary Stories

Children enjoy being scared in a safe environment, and what better place to be scared than at a Halloween party? Play this game by seeing who tells the scariest story, with the winner getting a prize.
