The sun sets over one of Northern Wisconsin's prettiest lakes.
The small town of Woodruff, with a population of less than 2,000 people, is located in Northern Wisconsin and is renowned for housing the "World's Largest Penny." Although there are no motels in Woodruff proper, the neighboring communities of Minocqua and Arbor Vitae have several that are only five minutes away by car. These motel properties are locally owned operations or small regional chains that feature cozy down-home accommodations, personalized amenities and easy access to major state roads such as Rtes. 70 and 51.
Northern Motel & Cafe
The Northern Motel & Cafe is nestled in the middle of Wisconsin's Northwoods, a lush wilderness rife with opportunities for fishing, hunting and hiking in fair weather and cross-country skiing in the winter. Open all year round, the property features outdoor charcoal grills and a large parking lot with plug-ins for cars, trucks, buses, RVs and trailers. Fishermen can also make use of a cleaning station and community freezer for storing the day's catch. The on-site cafe serves hearty American-style cuisine and offers free coffee to motel guests. Spacious guest rooms are non-smoking and feature one queen or two double beds, dorm refrigerators, air conditioning and satellite television with over 40 channels. In addition, pets are welcome to stay with prior management approval, but cannot be left alone in the rooms.
Skylark Motel
Surrounded by woodlands, the Skylark Motel is just a half block north of the Minocqua Bridge, providing easy access to State Highway 51. Amenities at the motel include guided fishing trips, a fish cleaning station and outdoor cedar furniture to relax in, while winter guests can also enjoy snowmobiling from the front door and maps of the riding trails. Parking for boats and snowmobiles is available alongside cars and trucks, and the nearby Minocqua Brewing Company serves lunch and dinner daily. Guests can choose between smoking and non-smoking rooms, all of which are soundproof and feature cable TV, high-speed wireless Internet, mini-fridges and touch-tone phones. The property offers reduced room rates during non-peak seasons. AARP members and large groups also qualify year round for special discounts.
Aqua Aire Motel
