Northeast Minneapolis Bars

Northeast Minneapolis is located across the Mississippi River from downtown Minneapolis and is composed of 13 different neighborhoods. These neighborhoods feature restaurants, shops and other small businesses scattered around residential homes. The majority of Northeast Minneapolis' bars are located along busy Central Avenue, a main route leading into downtown Minneapolis over the Mississippi River bridge. Does this Spark an idea?


Grumpy's Bar


Grumpy's Bar has three locations throughout the Twin Cities area, including a location in Northeast Minneapolis location. This small, neighborhood bar opened in 1998 and is now known for its live music events featuring local bands. In addition to hosting musical acts, many events take place at Grumpy's including trivia nights, celebrity guest bartenders and special holiday celebrations. This bar does not have a kitchen, but does serve frozen pizzas and peanuts. A full bar serves a selection of local microbrews.

331 Club


The 331 Club is a hotspot for Northeast Minneapolis nightlife, with a constant mix of theme nights, performances from local bands, free games and giveaways. The bar is conveniently located on the corner of 13th Street & University Avenue and with its mustard yellow facade; it's difficult to overlook. Customers can enjoy a sandwich, pizza or fried snack from the menu while sipping on a beer or cocktail. This bar does not charge a cover fee. Ample parking is available for free on the street or in the nearby fee based parking lot. Limited outdoor seating is available during the spring and summer months.

Gabby's Saloon and Eatery


With its giant sign featuring its Wild West era mascot, Gabby's Saloon is a prominent venue on the Northeast Minneapolis bar scene. This large establishment features a sports bar, dining room and nightclub. Drink specials are available every night of the week. A full menu features wings, sandwiches, wraps and burgers. After midnight, a limited late night menu is available. Events include Texas Hold 'Em tournaments, bingo nights and DJs spinning music. While enjoying drinks and food, customers can try their luck at pull tabs, play arcade games, hustle a game of pool or shoot darts. When the weather heats up, customers can enjoy a drink out on the outdoor patio. Gabby's charges a cover on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights after 9 PM.

Psycho Suzi's Motor Lounge and Tiki Garden


Boasting of its tacky tropical decor, Psycho Suzi's Motor Lounge and Tiki Garden is a Caribbean and pirate themed bar in Northeast Minneapolis. The bar opened in 2003 in a former A&W restaurant location. The patio, dubbed the "Poor Man's Paradise" is open year round, even in the most severe weather conditions. Specialty "Tiki" tropical themed beverages grace the drink menu and range in alcoholic content from "Feeble" to "Strong." For the less adventurous, standard cocktails and beers are served on the drink menu. Pizza highlights the food menu and offers four sauce choices and an array of toppings ranging from pepperoni to rum soaked raisins. Sandwiches, burgers and appetizers are also available.
