New Year'S Games

Play games at your New Year's party.

When planning a New Year's party, be sure to plan several party games to keep your guests entertained. These games will add excitement to the party and prevent boredom. Awarding New Year's-themed prizes, such as party hats, noisemakers and horns to all game winners will keep guests ready for the next game. Does this Spark an idea?

Resolutions and Lies

As each party guest arrives, have him write down two resolutions and one resolution lie on a sheet of paper. For example, guests will name two resolutions they really want to achieve, such as losing weight or stopping smoking. Then they will write down one resolution that is not true, such as biting my fingernails for a person with long fingernails. When everyone has done this, mix the papers up in a bowl and have all guests in a room. Read the two resolutions and the lie, and let the guests guess who wrote them. Then let them guess which resolutions is the lie. Award a party favor to each guest who gets an answer correct.

Party Hat Toss

Purchase several New Year's party hats that are flat on the top, and some ping-pong balls. With a permanent marker, write point values on each one of the party hats. Mark a standing line about 10 feet away from the party hats. Place the hats on the ground so the open part is facing the ceiling. Put higher point value hats farther away from the starting line and lower value points closest to the starting line. Give each player the chance to throw five ping-pong balls in the hats. Write down each player's points as he throws the balls. The player with the highest amount of points at the end of the game wins.

New Year's Relay Race

Divide the party guests into even teams and have them stand at a starting line. Mark a finish line about 20 feet from the starting line and place a table on the finish line. On the table, place two identical stacks of the following items: beads, a party hat, noisemaker, New Year's sunglasses, a horn and a lei. When you say, "go," the first player in each line has to run to the table and put on the lei, sunglasses, hat and beads. Then he must twirl the noisemaker and blow the horn. He must take it all back off and run to tag the next person in line, who must do the same thing. The first team to get all their players back to the starting line wins the game.

Pass the Party Hat

Have all guests sit in a circle and hand one person a party hat. Play some music and have the guests pass the hat around the circle. Each guest must put the hat on before passing it along. When the music stops, the person with the hat is out of the game. The last player standing wins the game.
