Hawaii is full of natural beauty.
Hawaii is one of the most distinctive states in the United States. Full of natural beauty, active volcanoes, pristine beaches and towering mountains, many vacationers come to the state seeking a pleasant holiday stay. Made up of hundreds of islands, only a handful of which are inhabited, visitors can find both bustling urban areas and private seclusion in Hawaii. Depending upon your preference, there are many options for a vacation during your time off.
Lanai
For those who prefer relaxing in a secluded spot, spend your holiday vacation on the island of Lanai. Although it's a mere 9 miles from Maui, there's not a single traffic light on the island, which is Hawaii's smallest inhabited one. There are two resorts, Four Seasons Resort Lanai at Manele Bay and the Lodge at Koele, to choose from and plenty of things to do when you're not relaxing on the beach. Lanai has two championship-level golf courses, miles of hiking trails, whale-watching cruises, good snorkeling spots and off-road trails. Some of the places you won't want to miss include Tthe Garden of the Gods, Polihua Beach, Sweetheart Rock and Lanaihale, the island's highest point.

Private Bungalow
If you're looking for a pleasant stay in Hawaii and have some cash saved up, rent a private bungalow. Bungalows are private, one-story houses available for rent on the islands by certain hotels, resorts and private owners. For a higher-end bungalow, hotels and resorts are your best option. Rent a beachfront house for spectacular views and an instant trip to the beach. Many also include amenities such as a grill, hot tub and pool. A number of resorts will also include welcome gifts such as massages or dinners included with the rate of your rental.
Honolulu
For a pleasant urban holiday vacation in Hawaii, spend some time in Honolulu, the state's largest city. Stay at one of the city's downtown hotels and still be close to the beach. Spend an afternoon exploring the city's large Chinatown. You'll find dim sum and noodle factories, large open market areas and authentic restaurants. Enjoy the evening at a jazz club, wine bar or fancy ethnic restaurant. Be sure to visit some of the historic places in the city as well, such as Iolani Palace, the only royal residence in the United States. Honolulu is also home to several art museums, a botanical gardens and award-winning golf courses.
