Shark Cake Decorating Ideas

For any child fascinated by sharks, a cake decorated with a shark motif is an absolute treat. There are several ways to decorate a cake with a shark theme, such as baking the cake in the shape of the shark or featuring a shark scene on the top. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Great White Shark Cake

The Great White Shark cake depicts the open mouth of a shark approaching head-on. With the large white teeth and the gaping red mouth, this cake is bound to give any shark aficionado thrills. This cake requires two 8-inch cakes. The first 8-inch cake is used to make the shark torso and mouth. The second cake is sliced into several slivers and used to make the shark fins. Once the cake is shaped, use gray, black, white and red icing to create the shark and its open mouth. As a finishing touch, place red and white candy corn in a circular formation to create the teeth.

3-D Shark Cake

Create a cake featuring a three-dimensional rendering of a shark. You can sculpt the torso of the shark out of one cake and then use a second cake to create a tail and fins. Additionally, you can even use a third cake to create a base that depicts an ocean. This will create the impression that the shark is swimming on the surface of water. As an added touch, place colorful candy in the shark's mouth to indicate the shark's ravenous propensity.

Shark Scene Cake

This cake involves taking a basic sheet cake and decorating the cake with an image of a shark. You will need gray, black, and white frosting to decorate this shark. You can also use marshmallows for the shark's teeth. The background of the sheet cake can feature an ocean scene so that the gray shark is contrasted against blue ocean water.
