A home party plan business gives you the opportunity to work from home, set you own hours and be your own boss through direct sales of product at home parties. A successful home party plan business requires some basic tools that support your business operation and growth. Items such as office supplies and samples are needed to not only promote your business, but to also keep organized and conduct home parties.
Catalogs and Printed Materials
Regardless of which home party plan you are working you need to have a decent supply of catalogs and other business related printed materials. A decent number of catalogs to have on hand include 10 for parties, 12 for host packets and 10 or more to hand out. To prevent you from running out of catalogs, order more when you have less than 30 on hand. Printed materials to have include order forms, brochures, recruiting materials and display signs. Business cards are great promotional items to have for handing out, leaving at businesses or posting on bulletin boards.
Calendar
Your business relies on parties being scheduled, but also gives you the flexibility to work when you can and want to work. So a calendar is necessary when working this kind of business. Each month sit down with your calendar and mark off days you cannot work because of kids' activities, other jobs, family events and parties. Then circle the dates you want to work; those are the days to fill in with parties. Keep the calendar with you everywhere you go.

In the folders put catalogs, door prize slips, host and guest specials and any other materials you want your party guests to see and read. So the guests can take notes during shows, put a pen in each folder with a small note card or blank sheet of paper.

Regardless of your company's policy stock up on samples for your guests to touch, feel, see and smell at parties. Select a variety of what you sell, including some higher priced items. Guests love to see what you offer in person and many items look better on a table than in a catalog.

Use a home computer with a printer to print brochures, write letters and keep records of sales and expenses. Some home party plan companies offer everything needed to successfully run a business online, including access to brochures, training and ordering. Use your computer to network your business through social networking sites and a personal business website.
