Surfer Decor For A Kid'S Room

When you're decorating your child's bedroom with a surfing theme, you can have a lot of fun. There are so many collectible items in this sport that are definitely wall-worthy. And since it's a colorful sport, you have a lot of versatility. Surfboard bedding and posters of pros emerging from treacherous tubes are just the tip of the iceberg. Does this Spark an idea?

Hang Ten

Probably the first thing that comes to mind when you think of surfing is surfboards. They're great for riding waves, but just as good for room décor. Pick up some old surfboards at flea markets or on eBay. Many surf shops also sell used boards for a fraction of the price of a new one. Use them as shelving for your child's surf memorabilia. Or just hang them on the wall as is. You can also use a surfboard as a tabletop. If you're really handy with a saw and drill, shape some pieces from a board to fit the seat of a chair.

Surfboard Gear

You use surf wax to add traction to the surface of a board. What you probably didn't know is that surfboard wax comes in tins and wrappers with original art designs. You can buy surfboard wax in most recreational athletic stores and online surf shops. You can make poster collages out of unique wrappers and hang tins directly on walls for an actual surf-shop look. Add ticket stubs and posters from surfing tournaments to your wall gallery.

Pro Surf Look

A real fan of surfing will know the major players. Most professional surfers, notoriously amicable athletes, have their own websites. Have your child request autographed snapshots of their favorite wave jammers. Even if a signed mug doesn't show up in the mail anytime soon, you can print photos of championship surfers perfecting their craft online. To add to the ambiance, hang stick-on surfboard wall murals and trade out plain lampshades for ones with unique surf themes.
