In "Slingo Quest Hawaii," you spin a wheel that produces five random numbers. You must then match each number to its twin on a grid of 25 additional numbers. Each match wins you a space on the grid. Win five adjacent spaces to earn points. While the numbers that appear are random, the game allows for strategic play to ensure your victory on each level.
Quick Matching
Each of the five columns on the Slingo board encompasses a set range of numbers. The first column has numbers 1 to 15, the second is 16 to 30, the third is 31 to 45, the fourth is 46 to 60 and the fifth is 61 to 75. To quickly match numbers, ignore the first digit in any two-digit number and focus on the second. For example, if you are looking for the match for 28 in the second row, look for an eight, as only two possible numbers in the row will have an eight: 18 and 28. This will cut valuable seconds off of your time.
Stars
Each round of Slingo has five stars available to earn. Stars are awarded when you fulfill a certain requirement, such as a set number of points, filling the pattern boxes, or completing the level in under a certain time. Before you begin each level, click on the empty star spaces at the top of the map to see your objectives, and pick two or three to work on in the round. It is difficult in later levels to earn all five stars in one round, so by choosing a focus, you can complete all five stars in two or three playthroughs.
Jokers
The Jokers are wild cards that have a chance of appearing after each spin. If you receive a Joker icon, you can pick any number in the corresponding column to win. To effectively use the Jokers, always look for a brown space in the column that goes towards your pattern bonus. Once the pattern bonus has been awarded, you can use Jokers to systematically work your way down each column, without having to worry about spinning the necessary numbers. Use the Super Joker when he appears, in order to select any number on the board to win.
Speed Slingo
During the "Speed Slingo" rounds, you have no control over the wheel spins, and must instead match numbers that randomly appear at the bottom of the screen. To get through this mode, it is important to memorize the numbers on the Slingo board, so you can quickly identify them as their matches appear on the bottom. Focus on the board and go over every number over and over again. When you notice the numbers on the bottom spin, quickly glance down to see if a match appeared. If you miss the match you can lose the round. Use Jokers in this round to remove numbers starting at the top of each column and working down. Do not worry about the pattern matches, as this can cost you valuable time.
Bag of Tricks
On the lower-left corner of the screen is your Bag of Tricks. The bag can store up to three special moves, which are awarded when you win certain spaces on the Slingo board. Do not use the tricks as soon as you receive them. Instead wait for your last three spins during each round. Start with the 3 Matches trick if you have it, as it will ensure at least three numbers will match on the next spin. This can help clear out any remaining numbers on the board. Use the Pattern trick second, as it ensures that at least one number on the spin will match a number for the pattern bonus. Save Coin tricks for the end, as they will boost your score but will not guarantee matches.
