The Best Wedding Favor Ideas

Heart-shaped cookies are practical and pretty.

The best wedding favors are ones that serve two purposes: they enhance the decor of the table, and offer the guests a practical purpose. Wedding guests may already have a collection of keepsakes from other weddings, and don't need another dust collector. Give your guests something they will use after your wedding.

Food

Traditionally, brides have given mints or Jordan almonds tucked into containers like decorative boxes, tied with ribbons embossed with the bride and groom's names. While these are still perfectly acceptable favors, other creative food options are available to the practical bride. Fortune cookies come in a variety of colors and flavors, with frosting, chocolate or sprinkles. A bakery can bake some in the wedding colors and include a note of thanks from the happy couple inside. Wedding cake shaped cookies with the couple's name, or candied apples decorated like a bride or groom, are unique favor ideas. Small jars of honey can be purchased that have the phrase "Meant to Bee" with the couple's name and wedding date on the label.

Heart and Home

Give your guests favors they can use around their house that are shaped like a heart. The heart shape will remind them of the happy times they had at your wedding. A large variety of practical items come in the shape of hearts or with hearts on them. Look for heart-shaped measuring spoons, candles, bottle openers, vases, cookie cutters, candy favor tins, picture frames, paperweights, soaps, tea infusers, whisks, or coasters.

Living Gifts

The eco-friendly or outdoorsy couple may want to give their guests something that will grow substantially. The couple could use the theme of "Our love will grow," or "Grow old with me." This couple could pass out iris bulbs, flower seeds, small shrubs or baby trees to their guests. If the wedding theme has a major focus on one type of flower, this would be a good way to incorporate that theme into the favor.

Homemade

The frugal bride, the bride on a strict budget or a crafty bride may want to make her own favors. They can still be attractive and practical. The bride who loves to cook can make a large batch of jelly, jam or hot sauce with her bridesmaids. Place a label on the jar with the couple's name, and tie a ribbon on top that coordinates with the wedding colors. Melt chocolate into heart-shaped molds and pack into favor boxes.
