Quiet & Exclusive Tropical Vacations

Find your idea of paradise

A tropical vacation can take you to any corner of the world but most importantly, it should take you to your own version of paradise. Many tropical destinations are traps for travelers and tourists, who bring with them noise, traffic and sometimes questionable behavior--spring breakers are notorious for filling up beaches. Quiet and exclusive tropical vacations do exist.

Bora Bora, Tahiti

Beach house on Bora Bora

The island of Bora Bora is a one hour flight from Tahiti in the South Pacific. Private over-water bungalows face white sand beaches and hikers can expect sweeping panoramic views of the island. Even with tourists, Bora Bora remains a destination off the beaten path. It is small enough to see in one day and has only one road which goes around it. Since there are scooter or taxi rentals, there is no real need for a car. Take home local handcrafts or Tahitian pearls.

St. John, USVI

Trunk Bay, St.John

The island of St.John is just nine miles long and three miles wide. This non-commercialised paradise is accessible only by ferry from neighboring St.Thomas, and lacks much of that island's urban noise. Two thirds of the tiny island includes National Park territory--meaning the natural greenery and numerous beaches will remain untouched for many years to come.

Molokai, Hawaii

Hawaii from the air

Known as "the friendly island," Molokai is situated 25 miles southeast of Oahu--the "Big Island" of Hawaii. Molokai is slow paced with scenic views, tranquil beaches and no buildings taller than the palm trees. Visit a coconut grove, tour an orchid farm or join in with an exclusive local tradition--eating fresh, hot, Molokai bread with your choice of sweet filling.

Alphonse, The Seychelles

Alphonse is home to nesting turtles

The Seychelles are a group of islands situated in the west Indian Ocean, off the east coast of Africa. There are 41 inner islands and 74 outers islands. Alphonse is one of the outer islands, and one of only a few which have accommodations for travelers. The island's beaches are pristine and the location ideal for scuba diving, deep sea fishing or fly fishing. The main island, Mahe, can be reached in an hour from Alphonse.
