Florida State Parks offer RV camping at the beach and beyond.
Florida's state parks are numerous and full of variety. Though the image of white sandy beaches immediately comes to mind when thinking of Florida, some of the state parks require a journey inland. Campgrounds where Recreational Vehicle (RV) sites are designated have water and electric hookup. Parks provide activities from beach lounging, water recreation, land recreation, wildlife viewing and historic exploration.
Florida RV Camping And Beaches
The Gregory E. Moore RV Resort at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park had 156 RV sites with water, cable, sewer and electric hookups of 30 or 50 amps. The maximum RV length allowed in the campground is 45 feet. A camp store is on site providing camping supplies and snack items. The campground also has a shuffleboard court, pool and laundry facilities. The beach lies half a mile from the campground down a foot and bike path. A shuttle is also available to transport guests. The white quartz sand beach at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park is a 3.2 mile stretch along the Gulf of Mexico.
Florida RV Camping And Water Recreation
St. Andrews State Park on the Gulf Coast of Florida has 176 camp sites for tents and RVs. Each site has accessible water and electricity hookups. The maximum RV length is 45 feet. The campground has a playground, full bathrooms with showers, a laundry room and RV dump stations. St. Andrews State Park has a variety of water sports and recreation opportunities for visitors to utilize in exploring the jetties and Grand Lagoon. Scuba diving gear, snorkeling equipment, canoes and kayaks are available at park concession stores and the campground store. Swimming and surfing are permitted on the beach and fishing is allowed from the jetties, docks and boats. Daily trips are scheduled to take visitors across the boat channel to Shell Island for more water exploration.
Florida RV Camping And Land Recreation
Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park, named after the American songwriter, is located on the Suwannee River. The RV campground has 45 camp sites with water and electric hookups, handicap accessible restrooms with showers and an RV dump station. The maximum RV length in 45 feet. Bicycle trails through the Suwannee River Valley meet a range of difficulty levels for bike enthusiasts. The Carter Camp Trail is a popular four-mile trail for hikers, bikers and horses. Horses are welcome at Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park, and trail maps are available.
Florida RV Camping And Wildlife Viewing
Silver River State Park has 59 campsites for RVs with a maximum length of 50 feet. Sites have water and electric hookups of either 30 or 50 amps. Two sites are wheelchair accessible. Each site also has a picnic table, fire ring and grill. An RV dump station is located at the campground and firewood is available at the ranger station. Silver River State Park has a wildlife listing available at the park. Possible sightings include gopher tortoises, armadillos, turkeys and bobcats. Bird watching is another popular activity here, with sightings of water foul and woodland birds.
Florida RV Camping And Historic Sites
Koreshan State Historic Site is one of the very few historic parks in Florida that offers RV camping. The campground has 60 campsites, each with water and electric hookups and a maximum RV length of 40 feet. Four of the sites are paved for accessibility. The campground also has a playground, laundry facility and volleyball court. From December through March a park ranger hosts a campfire circle on Saturday nights. The historic site is an early 20th century settlement called "New Jerusalem" by it's founder, Dr. Teed. The settlement includes cottages, a bakery and a machine shop.
