Poppit is a simple flash game available through the Pogo game service and a handful of other websites. Poppit features a mat of multi-colored balloons that cover the main game area. Some of these balloons have prizes in them. Your goal is to uncover the prizes by clearing the balloons, which you can do when two or more balloons are connected to each other. There are a few hints for this game to make winning easier.
Work Up
Starting from the bottom and working your way up will give you the best chance of clearing all of the balloons in a column. Balloons rise up from cleared pops, so if there are more at the bottom, they can get in your way at the end of the round. Also, popping from one of the lower corners of the screen, rather than diving into the middle, will help to keep the balloons in order and improve your game.
Color Grouping
When the board loads, scan for the color with the lowest saturation of balloons. Aim to get rid of those first. Pop other balloons to group as many of those scarce colors together as you can, and focus on clearing that one color entirely before moving on.
Big Groups
While popping a huge group of balloons may seem really tempting to start, you can do yourself a disservice. The balloons you take out in one fell swoop may end up being the ones you need later to free the last prize (or to clear the last few stragglers off the screen). Bigger groups earn more points, but think ahead before popping a big group. There is no time limit, so take a second to plan your end strategy.
Don't Forget the Goal
While playing, it's easy to get distracted by clearing the screen and forget about the real goal, which is to free the 15 toys. If you're reaching the end of the level and still have one or two toys still trapped, focus on clearing the balloons above them first. You don't have to clear the screen altogether, but this will earn you extra points (and if you're playing on Pogo, bonus tokens).
The Undo Button
Don't panic when you reach the last move in your round and still have a few toys trapped. You can reverse the last few moves you played by hitting the "undo" button to try a different path. Some versions have a stress meter that can cause you to fail, and using "undo" will raise it, but you can quickly reduce the meter again by popping a few balloons and releasing some more toys.
Practice on Pogo
There are a few similar games on Pogo that will help you hone your Poppit skills, like the Poppit Show and Pop Fu. It may seem counterintuitive to play another game, but Pop Fu is especially helpful. It has a much smaller game board, which can help you figure out get rid of those last few balloons when back on Poppit.
