Hawaii is a dream vacation destination.
It's easy to understand why Hawaii is a dream destination. The state has so many diverse activities and places to see that no one can visit Hawaii and be disappointed. Some seek sun and fun with nightclubs and parties. Others are looking for the more natural side of the tropical paradise. Still others expect their Hawaiian vacation to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience in upscale luxury. In any case, Hawaii has it all.
Waikiki
There's plenty to do in Waikiki.
For an exciting vacation with plenty of nightlife and beach activity, spend your Hawaiian sojourn in Waikiki. This is the major tourist section of Honolulu that covers the southern portion of the island of Oahu. The beach at Waikiki is world famous, and the view of Diamond Head in the distance is iconic. Shop the upscale DFS Galleria in Waikiki for little treasures from houses such as Cartier, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Chanel and others. For a more down-to-earth shopping experience, visit the Royal Hawaiian Center, which has more than 100 stores and restaurants. Before your vacation time runs out, be sure to get to the Honolulu Zoo and the Waikiki Aquarium.
Kauai
The cliffs along the Na Pali coast are spectacular.
Wind down and enjoy a bit of romance on Kauai, the greenest, most exotic tropical island of Hawaii. Kauai offers a laid-back getaway filled with flowers, foliage, waterfalls and clear waters. Take an excursion to the northern shore, the Na Pali coastline, to see the cliffs that rise 2,000 feet in verdant folds above the water, and find the hidden sections of beach along their base. Attend a luau and learn how kalua pig is cooked in earth pits. Snorkel among the coral reefs, hike in Kokee and Waimea Canyon state parks, or find other hiking trails across the island. For an unusual treat, fly down a zipline over the tops of tropical trees.
Lanai
Visit the Garden of the Gods.
Lanai is an island of luxury that knows no bounds. There are two ultra-luxurious five-star resorts where you can be pampered in your Lanai paradise: The southern coast is home to the Four Seasons Resort Lanai, Manele Bay, and the center of the island beckons vacationers to the Four Seasons Resort Lanai, the Lodge at Koele. When you go exploring the island, visit the Garden of the Gods, where deeply colored rock creates a barren vista that is otherworldly and oddly beautiful. Hike the Munro Trail until you reach the summit of Lanaihale. Lounge on the beach and watch the dolphins play or, if you visit in the winter, humpback whales. Two golf courses are available for a relaxing round or two.
